I got recommended Pace by someone because I was looking for in-person support groups for my specific circumstance and wasn’t really finding anything. So Pace’s notion of being around other people who want to pay this not-so-small amount of money to really connect on a deeper level seemed like a good compromise. Maybe I wouldn’t find people who have similar circumstances but I’d at least for sure find people who really want a human connection. It’s been five weeks with this group and I sure am feeling connected when I’m sharing and listening to others share.

Still hard to go and catch up with my more “real-life” friends though. That’s all on me to keep in touch and check-in. Harder when there’s not a date and time on the calendar. Harder when there’s not an app notification reminding me when the socialization sharing time is gonna start. Harder when there’s no licensed therapist referee there to facilitate questions to ask or to remind people to reflect. Harder because there’s catch-up to do, unsaid things to say.

But for now it’s keeping me connected with people who I am not related to and getting me out of my head for 90 minutes a week. And I look forward to it every week.
